Mont Alto Edges Brandywine In Regular-Season Finale

MONT ALTO, Pa. – Penn State Mont Alto scored the match's lone goal early in the second half and delivered Penn State Brandywine a 1-0 Penn State University Athletic Conference women's soccer defeat during the regular-season finale for both teams on Saturday afternoon.

Demareste Dorvilma (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) kept the match scoreless entering intermission as she stopped eight first-half shots. She turned aside 10 shots overall.

Mont Alto got on the board during the 54th minute with a goal from Grace Lochner. The Lions had four shot attempts over the final 35 minutes, but were unable to muster the game-tying score.

Brandywine's top scoring opportunity came with 10 minutes remaining in the opening half. First, Hope Priemon's (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) shot was stopped by Mont Alto netminder Kiaya Mouer. A flurry of shots then came off the foot of Jaylin Berrios (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey), including one that rang off the crossbar.

Berrios tallied a team-high four shots, while Jess James (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) produced three.

Brandywine (9-6-1, 8-2 PSUAC) will be the No. 2 seed in the PSUAC Tournament and will host No. 3 Penn State Schuylkill in a semifinal matchup on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 12:00 PM.
