Brandywine Falls In PSUAC Championship Match

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The second-seeded Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team was defeated 5-1 by Penn State Mont Alto during the Penn State University Athletic Conference Championship on Tuesday night in State College as the Lions finished the season as the league's runner-up for the second-straight year.

Mont Alto scored four times during the opening half, with three markers coming off the foot of Grace Lochner.

The highlight of the night came late in the second half for the Lions. A penalty kick was awarded to Brandywine and Zoey Lineman (West Deptford, N.J./GCIT) deposited her ninth goal of the year to put the Lions on the board during the 85th minute.

Brandywine had a pair of strong opportunities to score in the first half, both coming from Jaylin Berrios' (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) free kicks. Berrios sent the first shot high and her second drive was stopped by Mont Alto keeper Kiaya Mouer just before the clock expired.

The Lions recorded seven shots overall, including four from Berrios. Demareste Dorvilma (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) made a pair of stops in goal for the Lions.

Brandywine completed its 2023 season with a record of 10-7-1 after competing in the PSUAC Championship for the seventh time in eight seasons.
