Brandywine Drops 5-1 Decision To Christendom

MEDIA, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine women's soccer team was downed by Christendom College during its final non-conference game of the year, falling 5-1 on Friday afternoon.

Christendom built a two-goal lead with a pair of scores during the first 6:11 of the opening half and made the count 3-0 during the 41st minute with a goal from Maria Blank.

The Lions got on the board just before the half as a handball in the box gave Brandywine a penalty kick with one second on the clock. Zoey Lineman (West Deptford, N.J./GCIT) drove the penalty kick over Crusader keeper Serena Keller to make the score 3-1 at the break.

Following an offense-filled first 45 minutes when the teams combined for 18 shot attempts, each team recorded just three shots on goal during the second half.

Brandywine's second-half shots came from Jaylin Berrios (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) and Madison Pekera (Galena, Md./Kent County), but each was stopped by Blank. Christendom added a pair of late goals for the final margin.

Berrios, Pekera and Lineman each tallied three shots for the Lions, who produced 12 overall. Demareste Dorvilma (Carteret, N.J./Carteret) recorded four saves.

Brandywine (8-5-1) hosts Penn State Hazleton Monday at 3:00 PM.
