Three Lions Receive Women’s Soccer All-American Awards

PITTSBURGH, Pa. -- Three Penn State Brandywine women's soccer student-athletes were awarded all-American honors by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association as Jess James (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) and Caitlin Kaiser (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) earned First Team All-American laurels, while Jaylin Berrios (Lancaster, Pa./McCaskey) was named honorable mention on Thursday night.

James, who is now a two-time soccer all-American and 2022 all-American softball player, was the player of the year in the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

James was the fifth-leading scorer in the USCAA, totaling 40 points in 14 matches. She tied for third nationally by scoring 19 goals. James scored a goal in eight matches, recording seven multi-goal performances, including a five-goal outing at Penn State Schuylkill on Oct. 11.

During her three-year career, James registered 31 goals and six assists for 40 total points.

Kaiser started the final 31 games of her career on defense for the Lions, including 16 matches this fall. Kaiser helped the Lions' back line produce four shutouts, ranking ninth nationally in clean sheets. Each of Brandywine's shutouts came against USCAA opposition as the Lions produced a 1.25 goals-against average in 10 matches.

Kaiser notched the first goal of her career this fall. She scored in a Senior Day victory over Penn State Beaver on Oct. 14.

Kaiser competed in 33 matches at Brandywine in three seasons and is one of two players to have started all 31 games during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Berrios made 16 starts as a midfielder during her rookie season, one of five Lions to start every match. She recorded two goals and four assists, totaling eight points.

Berrios tied for third on the team in assists, while finishing fifth in total points. She tallied her first collegiate goal in a win over Bucks County on Sept. 19 and notched a goal and an assist for a three-point game in a win over Penn State Hazleton on Oct. 25.
