Abegg, Adams Earn Weekly Baseball Awards

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Evan Abegg (Commerce City, Colo./Prairie View) and Greg Adams (Glen Mills, Pa./Garnet Valley) were selected as players of the week as Abegg claimed the Penn State University Athletic Conference's Hitter of the Week honor and Adams received the United States Collegiate Athletic Association's Pitcher of the Week award on Tuesday.

Abegg tallied five hits in seven PSUAC Tournament at-bats last week, extending his hitting streak to eight consecutive games. Abegg also scored five runs, while stealing two bases.

Adams made appearances during both of Brandywine's conference tournament wins, earning a victory and a save. He totaled three strikeouts, while allowed just one run in seven innings of work.

During Brandywine's victory over Penn State York, Abegg went 3-for-3 and reached base safely four times overall. Adams came out of the bullpen to fire two scoreless innings to pick up his first save.

Adams then pitched the first five innings of Brandywine's 8-1 triumph over Penn State Schuylkill to receive the win. He struck out two and allowed one run, while Abegg added two more hits and scored three times.

Abegg is batting .347 with 20 runs scored, nine stolen bases and eight runs batted in this spring. During his eight-game hitting streak, Abegg is hitting .571 with 16 hits in 28 at-bats.

Adams owns three victories during his 11 appearances on the mound (five starts). He has tossed three complete games, while striking out 27 batters over 39.2 innings.

Brandywine (19-15) faces Penn State DuBois in a PSUAC Tournament winners' bracket game Sunday at 1:45 PM in DuBois.
