Baughman Leads Three Baseball All-Americans

MEDIA, Pa. -- A trio of Penn State Brandywine baseball players were named all-Americans by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Sunday night led by first teamer Cam Baughman (Oxford, Pa./Oxford). Tyler Brooks (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) and Nick Wright (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) both earned second team laurels.

Baughman batted a team-leading .403 in 26 games out of the leadoff spot in the lineup as he finished the year 15th in the USCAA in hitting. Baughman also ranked 15th in on-base percentage, reaching base safely at a .505 clip. In all, Baughman collected 31 hits in 77 at-bats, while earning 16 bases on balls. A team-best 11 of knocks went for extra bases, including nine doubles.

Baughman's five-hit game against Penn State Scanton on April 5 was the Brandywine's first five-hit game in seven years. He also produced a four-hit effort on opening day and collected three hits in a win over Penn State Hazleton on late April.

Nine of Baughman's 24 runs scored came during the final seven games of the spring for the Lions. In addition to ranking second on the team in runs, Baughman stole 11 bases and drove in eight runs. Four of his 11 steals came in a win over Rosemont on April 8.

Brooks, a USCAA First Team All-American in 2021 as a freshman, tallied a team-leading 41 hits to finish in a tie for 23rd nationally. In 21 games against USCAA opponents, Brooks hit safely in all but four contests, while producing 10 multi-hit performances in those games.

Brooks was also among the stolen base leaders in the USCAA, swiping 24 bags in 26 attempts to finish in a tie for fifth. He collected a season-high four stolen bases in against Penn State Hazleton on April 22 and added three more the following day for seven steals overall during the three-game series.

For the second-straight season, Brooks was the Lions' leader in runs scored and RBI. He crossed home 28 times, including scoring runs in nine-straight games from Feb. 20-Mar. 18. Brooks also produced 20 runs batted in.

Wright, who earned the third all-conference award of his career in April, matched his career high with 39 hits this spring. He finished the year with a .386 batting average and produced a .483 on-base percentage after walking 17 times. Wright hit safely in 10 of his final 12 games to end the season and in 24-of-30 games overall.

Wright also finished second on the team with 12 stolen bases and was not thrown out attempting to steal. He was third in both runs scored (23) and RBI (16).

In April, Wright became the 10th Brandywine baseball player to collect 100 career hits. He completed his fourth season at Brandywine with 105 career knocks in 313 at-bats.
