Brandywine Wins Third-Straight; Tops Fayette 95-80

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team built a 32-point, second-half lead and held on for its third-straight victory by defeating Penn State Fayette 95-80 on Friday night.

The Lions were led by a trio of 20-point scorers as Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) poured in 23 points and Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) and Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) both tallied 21 points. The trio combined to shoot 25-for-45 from the field.

As a team, Brandywine connected on 51 percent of its field goal attempts and knocked down six three-pointers, including four from Barrouk.

The Lions sprinted out to a 15-2 lead through five minutes, with 11 points coming from Barrouk. Fayette trimmed the margin as low as five points, but two Hockenbrock free throws began a run of nine-straight Brandywine points that extended the edge to 36-22.

Brandywine closed out the first half with a 20-point cushion by scoring the final five points of the period, including a three-point play from Graves with eight seconds to go.

Graves and Hockenbrock sparked a 10-0 run as Graves notched two baskets and a pair of free throws and Hockenbrock added a fast-break dunk before Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) tallied a basket to push the lead to 68-39 early in the second half.

Graves' layup at the 12:55 mark gave the Lions their biggest lead of the night at 73-41. Fayette battled back, scoring 28 of the next 36 points to get within 12 with under five minutes to play; however, Hockenbrock and Barrouk put the game away by knocking down back-to-back three-pointers.

Barrouk produced his sixth double-double of the season by pulling down 11 rebounds, while Hockenbrock pulled in nine boards and collected four steals. Dunson chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.

Brandywine (5-5, 4-2 PSUAC) closes out the first half of the season Saturday against Penn State Beaver at 6:00 PM.
