Griffins Down Brandywine

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Gwynedd Mercy limited Penn State Brandywine to 25 percent shooting and claimed an 86-35 victory over the Lions during their first game of the calendar year on Wednesday.

The Griffins used an early 12-0 run to build an 11-point lead and pulled away midway through the first half by scoring 15-straight points. Gwynedd Mercy owned a 29-point halftime lead that Brandywine was unable to cut into during the final 20 minutes.

Devon Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington) scored eight of his 10 points during the second half and was the lone Lion to reach double-figure scoring. Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) tallied seven points and collected two steals, while Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) tallied a team-best five rebounds.

Brandywine (6-6, 5-2 PSUAC) continues its road swing Sunday at Washington Adventist beginning at 2:00 PM.
