Brandywine Closes Home Slate With 81-70 Victory

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine closed out the home portion of its schedule with an 81-70 men's basketball victory over Penn State Lehigh Valley on Monday night.

Lehigh Valley led for the game's first 15 minutes, opening up a lead as big as seven points, before Brandywine rallied with an 8-0 spurt, capped by a three-pointer from A.J. Dreger (Newtown Square, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) to take its first lead of the night.

Bryce Barrouk's (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) layup gave Brandywine a six-point edge at the 3:49 mark and the Lions entered halftime holding a 42-37 advantage.

The visitors used a 12-3 run early in the second period to claim a 51-48 lead, but Brandywine answered with eight consecutive points to retake the lead for good. Jamar Wright's (Wilmington, Del./Conrad School of Science) layup made the count 60-54 with 11:44 to go and Brandywine steadily grew its lead from that point.

Barrouk pushed the margin to double figures for the first time when he knocked down three free throws as part of a 12-0 Brandywine run. Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) and Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) fueled the surge by combining for nine points as the Lions opened up a 77-60 edge late in the second half.

Dunson led Brandywine with 23 points on 8-for-12 shooting, while Barrouk produced a 16-point, 13-rebound double-double. Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) added 15 points and eight boards and Graves tallied 13 points, five rebounds and three steals.

Brandywine overcame 11 Lehigh Valley three-pointers by outscoring the visitors 40-14 in the paint and forcing 17 turnovers. The Lions shot 39 percent from the field.

Brandywine (15-9, 14-4 PSUAC) ends the regular season Tuesday night at Penn State Scranton (8:00 PM).
