Barrouk’s Big Day Helps Lions Hold Off Scranton

MEDIA, Pa. -- Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) paired 25 points with a career-high 19 rebounds as the Penn State Brandywine men's basketball team held off Penn State Scranton by a 67-56 score on Saturday afternoon.

Barrouk, who netted 15 of Brandywine's 27 second-half points, set a new career-high on the boards, finishing two shy of matching the program's single-game record. Barrouk shot 10-for-21 from the field and canned five three-pointers.

Brandywine led 10-2 through five minutes and pushed its lead to double figures for the first time following Jaden Kelly's (Philadelphia, Pa./GAMP) layup at the 12:19 mark.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Jordan Graves (Media, Pa./Strath Haven) and A.J. Dreger (Newtown Square, Pa./Bonner-Prendie) opened up a 16-point lead nine minutes later, but the Lions were held scoreless over the final 3:12 of the first half and led 40-26 at the break.

Scranton hung around during the second half as Barrouk's layup at the 17:42 mark served as the Lions' lone points for the first 5:21 of the period.

The visitors trimmed the margin as low as seven points with 6:37 to play, Barrouk answered with two triples during a 37-second span, raising the margin to 13 points.

Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) added two free throws at the 3:38 mark, making the count 61-46, and the Lions did not allow Scranton to get closer than 11 points down the rest of the way.

Hockenbrock tallied 13 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots, while Kelly notched seven points. Devon Jones (Philadelphia, Pa./Abington) and Johnta Dunson (Philadelphia, Pa./Freire Charter) both collected five points and four assists.

Brandywine (12-7, 11-2 PSUAC), which officially clinched a PSUAC Tournament spot with Saturday's victory, looks for its 11th-straight conference win Wednesday when the Lions visit Penn State Hazleton at 7:00 PM.
