Bryce Barrouk Named USCAA National Player Of The Year; Joined By Hockenbrock As All-American

RICHMOND, Va. – Penn State Brandywine senior Bryce Barrouk (Glen Mills, Pa./Rustin) was selected as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Player of the Year on Sunday during the Association's annual year-end awards banquet. Junior forward Colin Hockenbrock (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) garnered all-American honorable mention laurels.

Barrouk, who joins Brianna Banks (women's soccer) and Nikki Velez (women's basketball) as the only national players of the year in Brandywine history, also earned First Team All-American accolades. It is the second-straight all-American selection for Barrouk, who was named to the second team last season.

Also the Penn State University Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Barrouk was the Lions' leading scorer and rebounder this winter. He finished ninth nationally in scoring at 18.9 points per game and fifth in rebounding at 11.1 boards per outing.

In 27 games, Barrouk knocked down 75 three-pointers, good for third in the USCAA, and shot over 42 percent from beyond the arc. Barrouk also connected on over 86 percent of his 103 free throw attempts.

Barrouk netted over 20 points in 13 games, all against USCAA competition, and produced 18 double-doubles. He recorded a 31-point effort against Penn State York in November and pulled in a season-high 19 rebounds in a February victory over Penn State Scranton.

Barrouk finished his four-year career as the most prolific three-point shooter in program history, canning 275 triples in 106 games. He ranks second all-time in scoring (1,749 points) and is also one of the top rebounders in team history with 825 rebounds.

Hockenbrock served as Brandywine's second-leading scorer and rebounder. He poured in 14.6 points per night, while grabbing 7.3 rebounds. He was also the Lions' leading shot blocker for the second-straight year, averaging 0.7 per game.

A First Team All-PSUAC honoree, Hockenbrock scored in double figures 22 times in 27 games this winter, including a career-high 26-point game at Moravian in November. He also pulled in 11 rebounds during that game for the first of his four double-doubles on the season.

The duo of Barrouk and Hockenbrock led Brandywine to a record of 19-8 and helped the Lions win the PSUAC East Division during the regular season with a 17-2 league mark.
