Cassario Sweeps PSUAC Weekly Awards

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore Crystal Cassario (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) was tabbed as both the hitter of the week and pitcher of the week by the Penn State University Athletic Conference.

In the circle, Cassario owns a conference-best five victories in seven appearances and league-leading 38 strikeouts. She is also tied for the PSUAC lead with four complete games, while sporting a 3.25 earned run average in 36.2 innings.

Cassario fired a one-hit shutout of Delaware Valley in Florida and yielded one hit in a five-inning victory over Central Maine on Monday. She recorded back-to-back, 11-strikeout performances against the Mustangs this week, only the fifth and sixth double-figure strikeout games in team history.

Offensively, Cassario has produced a .370 batting average with 10 hits in 27 at-bats and has hit safely in six-of-10 games. She owns two home runs, seven runs batted in and six runs scored.

Cassario hit a go-ahead, three-run home run during a three-hit performance in a victory over Bluffton during Spring Break. She also tallied a pair of hits in triumphs over Central Maine and Bethany.

Brandywine (10-2) visits Widener Saturday for a 1:00 PM doubleheader.
