Ferry Receives Third USCAA Hitter Of The Week Selection

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore Meghan Ferry (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) was named United States Collegiate Athletic Association Hitter of the Week for the third time this spring on Tuesday.

Ferry batted .429 with six hits, including five that went for extra bases, in 14 at-bats last week. She totaled eight runs batted in, while scoring nine times and stealing three bases.

At Penn State Fayette Friday, Ferry went 3-for-4 with two triples and a solo home run in game two. She scored the game-tying run on a wild pitch in the seventh inning to send that game to extra innings in a game claimed by Brandywine, 6-4.

One day later, Ferry hit her seventh home run of the season, a three-run shot, and drove in six runs during Brandywine's doubleheader sweep at Penn State New Kensington.

Ferry is now tied for the USCAA lead with seven homers, while ranking second in runs scored (37) and third in extra-base hits (17). Through 30 games, Ferry owns a .404 batting average with 36 hits, 25 RBI and 12 stolen bases.

Brandywine (24-9, 13-1 PSUAC) faces Penn State Hazleton Wednesday at Maple Zone beginning at 3:00 PM.
