Ferry Earns USCAA Hitter Of The Week Selection

MEDIA, Pa. -- Sophomore Meghan Ferry (Gloucester City, N.J./Gloucester City) was tabbed as the hitter of the week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday after leading the Penn State Brandywine softball team to four wins in six games last week.

Ferry hit safely in four-of-six games, including three multi-hit games, while batting .444 (8-18) overall. She recorded four extra-base hits, three of which were home runs, while knocking in seven runs and scoring six.

During a four-game sweep of Central Maine, Ferry homered twice and posted a three-hit game when she went 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI in game four. She also drove in a season-best three runs during game three's 8-3 Brandywine victory.

Ferry added a solo home run on the road at Widener on Saturday, while also stealing her second base of the week and fifth overall this spring.

Ferry sits in a three-way tie for the USCAA home run lead, while leading Brandywine with a .395 batting average and 12 runs scored. Six of her 15 hits this spring have gone for extra bases.

Brandywine is on the road Tuesday at Haverford College for a 3:00 PM doubleheader.
