Landis Claims PSUAC And USCAA Hitter Of The Week Selections

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine junior Payton Landis (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) was named hitter of the week by the Penn State University Athletic Conference and United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday.

Landis collected 10 hits in 15 at-bats, while driving in four runs and scoring three times last week during four PSUAC Tournament games, helping Brandywine return to the conference championship game for the seventh-straight season.

Landis tallied a trio of three-hit efforts, all against Penn State DuBois. She added a triple and two RBI during Brandywine's 8-1 triumph over Penn State Beaver.

Hits in all four games extended Landis' hitting streak to 10-straight. She has hit safely in 23-of-24 games since March 22 and is batting .405 with a team-best 47 hits overall this spring.

In 38 games, Landis' 41 RBI lead the PSUAC and rank fourth in the USCAA. Her 17 extra-base hits are also tied for the eighth-highest total in the USCAA.

Brandywine (30-11) faces Penn State Hazleton in a best-of-three championship series beginning Sunday in DuBois, Pa., at 4:00 PM.
