Immaculata Downs Brandywine In Opener

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team dropped a 77-39 decision to Immaculata University during the Lions' season-opening game on Friday night.

Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) netted 17 of Brandywine's points on 7-of-11 shooting. She knocked down both of her three-point attempts and added a pair of blocked shots on the defensive end.

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) chipped in with seven points, while Trinell Watson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) tallied six points during her college debut. Floyd matched Savannah Bauer (San Jose, Calif./Santa Teresa) for the team lead with four rebounds and added two steals and two blocked shots.

After Allen's layup at the 4:23 mark of the first quarter made the count 12-9, Immaculata pulled away, scoring 13 of the final 16 points during the period. The Mighty Macs increased their lead to 22 points by halftime and limited the Lions to 14 points during the final 20 minutes.

Brandywine (0-1) gets an early start to conference play when it hosts Penn State York on Tuesday at 6:00 PM in its home opener.
