Brandywine Rolls Through Scranton 87-34

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team posted a lopsided 87-34 victory over Penn State Scranton Saturday afternoon.

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) delivered game highs with 22 points and a career-best 16 rebounds, while Trinell Watson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) produced 19 points and seven steals. Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) amassed 18 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and seven steals. 

Brandywine committed a season-low eight turnovers, while forcing 39 miscues by the visitors, scoring 50 points off Scranton turnovers.

The Lions also dominated on the boards, holding a 65-44 margin. Sierra Diawara (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds, while Savannah Bauer (San Jose, Calif./Santa Teresa) also pulled in nine boards and Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) tallied eight rebounds.

Floyd and Watson combined for 23 first quarter points as the Lions ran out to a 31-10 lead through 10 minutes. Brandywine surged ahead following a 21-0 run spanning more than four minutes that put the Lions in front by 23 points.

Brandywine limited Scranton to three points during the final 5:54 of the second period and pushed its lead to 46-17 by halftime.

The Lions upped the margin to 30 points early in the third quarter, a lead that was never threatened during the final 20 minutes.

Brandywine (10-9, 9-4 PSUAC) visits Penn State Hazleton Wednesday at 5:00 PM.
