Brandywine Rolls By DuBois 81-50

DUBOIS, Pa. – Penn State Brandywine raced out to a 29-10 lead through one quarter and never looked back, defeating Penn State DuBois 81-50, on Friday night in Penn State University Athletic Conference women's basketball action.

Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) poured in a season-high 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting and crossed the 900-point mark for her career. Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and Trinell Watson (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) both produced 11 points. Watson led the Lions on the boards with nine rebounds, while Koger topped all players with seven assists.

Kaitlyn Johnson (Clifton Heights, Pa./Upper Darby) added 10 points and Erin Michael (Brookhaven, Pa./Sun Valley) hauled in eight rebounds.

The Lions netted 31 points off 33 DuBois turnovers and shot 39 percent from the field.

Brandywine never trailed as the Lions netted the first nine points of the game. The Lions shot 12-of-23 from the floor and knocked down five three-pointers during the opening quarter to build a 19-point lead.

The margin reached 20 points for the first time when Floyd sank a layup during the Lions' second possession of the second period. DuBois closed within 13 points with 1:53 to play before the half, but Watson sandwiched baskets around a Floyd bucket and two free throws from Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner), and Brandywine entered the break with a 50-29 advantage.

Brandywine's run continued to begin the second half as Koger made a layup and Floyd followed with five-straight points, swelling the margin to 57-29, and the Lions put the game away by outscoring the hosts 19-12 during the third stanza.

Brandywine (3-3, 3-1 PSUAC) visits Penn State Greater Allegheny on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
