Brandywine Drops Home Finale To Lehigh Valley

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine women's basketball team dropped its final home game of the regular season on Monday night, falling 76-65 against Penn State Lehigh Valley.

Brandywine trailed 17-10 with 4:01 to go in the first period, but Lehigh Valley scored the final 10 points to expand the margin to 17 points.

Kiara Koger (Philadelphia, Pa./Neumann-Goretti) and Anaiyah Allen (Lutz, Fla./Steinbrenner) combined for the first six points of the second quarter as Brandywine climbed within 11; however, the Lions would get no closer during the stanza and trailed 40-24 at the break.

Lehigh Valley maintained its 16-point lead entering the final period before Brandywine mounted a rally.

Cheyenne Rivas (Thorndale, Pa./Collegium Charter) knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to trim the margin to 11. Amanda Floyd (Glenolden, Pa./Interboro) followed with a triple of her own to cap a 9-0 Brandywine surge at the 6:52 mark, but Lehigh Valley quickly answered with six-straight points.

Floyd and Rivas again buried consecutive three-pointers to make the count 68-60; however, the Lions could not cut further into the deficit.

Floyd posted a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Allen added 14 points and Rivas canned four triples and notched 13 points. Koger tallied eight points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Brandywine shot 45 percent from the field, but was marred by 32 turnovers. Lehigh Valley netted 26 points off Brandywine turnovers and held a slim 48-43 rebounding edge.

Brandywine (11-13, 10-8 PSUAC) closes out the regular season Tuesday at Penn State Scranton needing a victory to earn a PSUAC Tournament bid.
