Brandywine Softball Honored For Academics By NFCA

MEDIA, Pa. -- For the seventh consecutive year, Penn State Brandywine softball earned the team academic award from the National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association. Additionally, seven members of the 2022 team were named All-America Scholar-Athletes.

The 18 members of Brandywine softball combined to earn a 3.16 GPA during the 2021-22 academic year. One of nearly 400 four-year institutions to receive the award, the Lions were the lone program from the United States Collegiate Athletic Association to earn the distinction.

Individually, junior Farrell Everett, sophomore Meghan Ferry and freshmen Gianna Casale, Kassidy Hoffman, Karly Rees, Gianna Terpolilli and Becky Valente claimed scholar-athlete awards after amassing grade-point averages of 3.5 or greater during the academic year. Everett earned the second award of her career, while Rees was one of three student-athletes from all Brandywine sports to post a perfect 4.0 GPA.

On the field, Brandywine, in its ninth year under Head Coach Mark Caserta's guidance, won the Penn State University Athletic Conference championship for the seventh-straight season. The Lions finished with a single-season record 35 victories, while placing fourth at the USCAA World Series.
