RADNOR, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine softball team suffered a pair of losses at Cabrini on Tuesday, falling by scores of 5-4 and 10-2.
Game One: Cabrini 5, Penn State Brandywine 4
The teams traded the lead back-and-forth before Cabrini walked off with the one-run victory.
The Cavaliers held a 2-0 edge entering the fourth inning before Brandywine tied the count at 2-2 following back-to-back run-scoring doubles from Karly Rees (Oxford, Pa./Oxford) and Crystal Cassario (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury).
Cabrini went back on top with a fifth-inning run, but Brandywine answered with two scores in the sixth. Payton Landis (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) and Rees started the rally with consecutive base hits. Three batters later, both came around to score as Destiny Brophy (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) laced a single through the middle, putting Brandywine on top 4-3.
After tying the score at 4-4 during the bottom of the sixth, Cabrini walked off the victory in the seventh. Abby Tobelman led off with a double and later came around to score via a two-out error.
Rees recorded two of Brandywine's five hits, while Cassario took the loss despite allowing just one earned run in 6.2 innings.
Game Two: Cabrini 10, Penn State Brandywine 2
Solo home runs from Emily Reagan (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) and PSUAC Player of the Week Farrell Everett (Wynnewood, Pa./Haverford) highlighted game two for Brandywine as the Lions dropped a 10-2 decision.
Brandywine tallied six hits, including two off the bat of Lexi Bussenger (Bangor, Pa./Bangor).
Cabrini hit three home runs to score its 10 runs, while piling up 10 hits and taking advantage of four Brandywine errors.
Brandywine (24-8, 12-2 PSUAC) returns to conference play Friday at Penn State Scranton (2:00 PM).
