PSUAC Selects Bussenger As Hitter Of The Week

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine's Lexi Bussenger (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) was named softball hitter of the week by the Penn State University Athletic Conference on Tuesday.

Bussenger batted .640 last week with 16 hits in 25 at-bats, raising her season batting average to .531. Bussenger hit safely during Brandywine's final five games of the week, collecting four extra-base hits along with nine RBI, 12 runs scored and four stolen bases.

On Friday at Penn State Scranton, Bussenger set a Brandywine single-game record with six hits. She also matched the program record by scoring five runs, while adding six RBI. In addition to her six-hit game, Bussenger also produced a pair of three-hit efforts. After recording nine hits and nine RBI in two games against Scranton, Bussenger reached base seven more times Saturday in a sweep at Penn State Schuylkill. She tallied five hits and four runs scored in the sweep.

Bussenger owns 26 hits in 49 at-bats over 33 games this spring. She ranks second in the PSUAC with 23 stolen bases, while sitting in a tie for fifth in runs scored with 32.

Brandywine (28-8, 16-2 PSUAC) closes out the regular season Tuesday at Immaculata.
