OWINGS MILL, Md. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season, falling by a 5-1 count at Stevenson University on Sunday afternoon.

Playing for the third time in four days, the Lions were limited to one shot on goal. Liam Pheiffer (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) provided all of the offense for Brandywine, scoring the first goal of his career in the 90th minute off a feed from Ethan Harper (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone)

John Simpson (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter) and Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) split time in goal, each playing 45 minutes. Simpson stopped three first-half shots, while DeBooth made a pair of saves during the second period.

Stevenson received goals from five different players, scoring three times in the opening 45 minutes and twice more in the second half.

Brandywine (1-1-1) opens a three-game homestand on Wednesday against the University of Valley Forge at 4:00 pm.
