Alex Sydor Earns USCAA Player Of The Week Award

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine sophomore Alex Sydor (White Plains, N.Y./Ardsley) was named National Offensive Player of the Week by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Tuesday.

Sydor took over the scoring lead in the Penn State University Athletic Conference and USCAA by collecting 16 points on five goals and six assists during three matches, all Brandywine victories, last week.

Against Penn State Wilkes-Barre, Sydor scored twice and added an assist in a 10-0 win. Four days later, he tallied a goal and three assists as Brandywine locked up the No. 1 seed in the PSUAC Tournament by defeating Penn State New Kensington 11-0. He added two goals and two assists Sunday against Vaughn College as Brandywine closed out the regular season with a 9-0 victory.

Sydor, who earned his second national player of the week award of the season, owns 23 goals, 10 assists and 56 total points in 20 matches this fall. He leads the PSUAC and USCAA in all three categories.

Brandywine will host a PSUAC Tournament semifinal against the lowest remaining seed following the quarterfinal round this Saturday at 6:30 PM.
