Four From Brandywine Men's Soccer Land All-American Awards

MEDIA, Pa. -- For the third-straight season, a total of four Penn State Brandywine men's soccer student-athletes were named all-Americans by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association on Thursday. Sophomore Alex Sydor (White Plains, N.Y./Ardsley) was selected to the first team, while senior Joey Cairy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) and freshman Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) earned second team accolades and freshman Raymond Kelly (Middletown, Del./Middletown) landed honorable mention laurels.

The Penn State University Athletic Conference Player of the Year, Sydor enters the USCAA Tournament leading the nation in goals, assists and total points. Sydor can become the first Lion to lead the nation in scoring since Bill Walleekendeh in 2016.

In 22 matches, Sydor netted 25 goals. He produced four three-goal games and four more two-goal matches, with three of those coming in Brandywine's final five games. Of Sydor's 10 assists, six came during Brandywine's final five matches. He tallied a season-best three helpers in a win at Penn State New Kensington on Oct. 23.

Sydor notched at least one point in 13 matches. He recorded a season-best seven points against Bryant & Stratton-Albany in September and matched that number twice later in the season, at Penn State Mont Alto on Sept. 29 and at Penn State Hazleton on Oct. 13.

Cairy, a three-time First Team All-PSUAC honoree, earned all-American honors for the first time after tallying 11 goals, eight assists and 30 points. He ranked second on the team in each category.

Cairy's seven assists are tied for seventh-most among USCAA men's soccer players, while his point total is tied for 10th and goal mark stands in a tie for 14th. During Brandywine's final eight matches, Cairy tallied at least two points in seven of those matches, including a three-goal performance at Penn State New Kensington.

He enters the USCAA Tournament with 26 goals and 21 assists during his 58-game career.

DeBooth made 16 appearances in goal this fall for the Lions. He leads all USCAA net minders with a 0.37 goals-against average after yielding just four goals in over 937 minutes in goal.

DeBooth has produced two shutouts and combined on seven more, while making 26 saves. He stopped a season-high eight shots, while blanking Penn State Lehigh Valley for nearly 96 minutes in a 1-0 PSUAC Championship victory on November 3.

Kelly started all 22 matches on defense during his freshman campaign. He led a Brandywine defense that tops all USCAA teams in goals-against average (0.83), shutouts (13) and shots allowed (73).

Offensively, Kelly produced four goals, including a two-goal match against Penn State Scranton on Oct. 5.
