READING, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end Thursday night as the Lions suffered a 2-1 setback at Albright.
Billy Hanratty provided all of the offense for the hosts, netting a pair of goals just 1:04 apart midway through the first half to hand Albright a 2-0 lead.
Albright goalkeeper Hunter Stump stopped the first four shots he faced before the Lions broke through, finding the back of the net during the 89th minute. Khafren Smith (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) collected his first goal of the season off a feed from Tyler Skaer (Brookhaven, Pa./The Christian Academy) to trim the margin to just one; however, that would be the final shot of the night for either team as Brandywine's rally fell short.
John Simpson (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter) and Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) split time in net, each making one stop.
Both teams recorded eight shots during the match. Axel Ayllon-Ortiz (Kennett Square, Pa./Kennett) and Joey Cairy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) each collected a pair of shots to lead the Lions.
Brandywine (4-2-1) opens a two-day trip in western Pennsylvania Saturday when it plays its first conference match of the season at Penn State Fayette (1:00 pm).
