Brandywine Claims 9-0 Victory In Regular-Season Finale

MEDIA, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team closed out the regular season with its 14th victory of the fall, defeating Vaughn College 9-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Brandywine (14-3-3, 9-0-1 PSUAC) capped the regular season with its seventh-straight win and seventh shutout in eight October matches.

Alex Sydor (White Plains, N.Y./Ardsley) put Brandywine on top just 37 seconds into the game and assisted on the next two goals: a score by Joey Cairy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) at the 6:44 mark and a tally from Ethan Pace (Stowe, Pa./Pottsgrove) less than three minutes later.

Cairy and Sydor each added a second goal as Brandywine brought a 5-0 lead into the halftime break.

The Lions tacked on four more scores during the final 45 minutes. Nick Sinigaglio (Carney's Point, N.J./Penns Grove) recorded a pair of goals, while Kareem Sharaf (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and Nick Gaither (Boerne, Texas/Samuel V. Champion) each added markers.

Brandywine outshot Vaughn 29-2 and did not allow a shot on goal. Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Reading), who earned the win, split time in net with Rory Travers (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) for the Lions.

Brandywine, the regular-season champions for the seventh-straight season, will host a PSUAC Tournament semifinal match Saturday against an opponent still to be determined.
