Seven-Goal First Half Sends Brandywine To Victory

MEDIA, Pa. -- Penn State Brandywine blitzed Penn State Greater Allegheny with seven goals in a span of 31:38 during the first half and cruised to a 7-0 Penn State University Athletic Conference men's soccer victory on Saturday afternoon.

Brandywine scored on seven of its 12 shots on goal during the opening 45 minutes.

Ethan Pace (Stowe, Pa./Pottsgrove) started the scoring parade with a tally at the 9:14 mark following a long boot from goalkeeper Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) and touch pass from Alex Sydor (White Plains, N.Y./Ardsley).

Sydor posted a five-point effort, adding a pair of goals to his assist on Pace's goal, while Kyle Reuter (York, Pa./Dallastown Area), seeing his first action of the year, collected three helpers.

Raymond Kelly (Middletown, Del./Middletown) made the score 2-0 by converting a penalty kick in the 19th minute. Sydor then struck twice in a span of 2:02 to double the margin to 4-0.

Reuter assisted on the Lions' final three goals of the period, tallying helpers on markers by Joey Cairy (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley), Kareem Sharaf (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and Josh Land (Boerne, Texas./Samuel V. Champion).

Brandywine, which outshot Greater Allegheny 26-1, recorded its fifth shutout in six PSUAC matches. Three Lion goalkeepers went untested in net, while DeBooth earned his fourth win of the season after playing the first 45 minutes.
