Brandywine Draws With Thiel

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The Penn State Brandywine men's soccer team capped another busy week with a scoreless draw at Thiel College on Sunday.

Despite outshooting the host Tomcats 20-4, the Lions were unable to find the back of the net for the second time in nine matches this fall. Brandywine also earned a 0-0 road draw at Goucher two weeks ago.

Elijah DeBooth (West Lawn, Pa./Wilson) recorded his first shutout by stopping two shots. He made one first-half save and needed to stop one shot in extra time, while playing all 110 minutes in net.

Alex Sydor (White Plains, N.Y./Ardsley) and Ethan Pace (Stowe, Pa./Pottsgrove) both produced six shots for the Lions. Brandywine, which recorded 14 of the match's 18 corner kicks, had four consecutive corners late in regulation, but Pace's shot off one of those corners was blocked.

Sydor and Connor Lines (Philadelphia, Pa./Franklin Towne Charter) put shots on net during the second overtime period; however, those attempts were turned away by Thiel keeper Noah Brieck, who needed to make 12 saves overall.

Brandywine (5-2-2, 1-0 PSUAC) returns home Tuesday for a conference matchup with Penn State York (4:00 pm).
